What the buyer is looking for
For networked, highly automated and, in the future, autonomous driving, communication between vehicles and each other, but above all also between the transport infrastructure and the vehicles, plays an essential role. At international level, cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) with corresponding services have been specified and harmonised for this purpose. The first applications of these services, such as the prioritisation of emergency vehicles and public transport vehicles, are already increasingly being implemented today. The exchange of information in a direct communication takes place between so-called On Board Units (OBU) in the vehicles and Road Side Units (RSU) on the part of the traffic infrastructure, mainly at light signalling systems (LSA). The focus of the intended research project is the information sent by RSU to LSA on the node topology in the form of the…

… MAPEM message (Map extended Message) and on the signaling state in the form of a SPATEM message (Signal Phase and Timing extended Message). The aim of this research project is to support the harmonised use of cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) on light signalling systems. For this purpose, a Germany-wide overview of the implementations already carried out is to be drawn up. In addition, despite extensive guidelines, specifications and standards, there are still numerous topics whose practical feasibility can be further supported by additional recommendations and an easily accessible preparation. Within the framework of the project, such gaps are to be closed by means of concise, compact and visually appealing guidelines. These include, for example, aspects for harmonising the planning and supply process, a collection of best practice examples, recommendations on operational topics and the maintenance of C-ITS messages and components in the company, as well as references to data protection and the European area of trust (PKI - use).
