What the buyer is looking for
VITO's Sustainable Polymer Technologies (SPOT) team is currently working on a scaling-up process for the production of bio-based aromatics from lignin. To this end, a pilot infrastructure platform in the VITO Sustainability Park in Mol is used to demonstrate the production of bio-based aromatics via solution and catalytic processing. As part of this process, an evaporation step is performed to remove a process solvent from the produced bio-based aromatics. Currently, for this evaporation step, a continuous kilo-lab rotavapor is used as a pre-drying step to remove most of the process solvent. To increase production capacity, VITO wants to purchase a second rotavapor with similar specifications to the existing, installed equipment.
