… goods (LRT (Annex I) and species (Annexes II, IV and V)). In a multi-year coordination process, the federal and state governments have agreed on a nationwide approach to FFH monitoring. For monitoring purposes, the number of sample areas (SPF) per protected material (LRT or species) is distributed among the federal states (federal sample) at federal level. A maximum of 63 SPF per biogeographical region are distributed within and outside FFH areas, while all occurrences in a total census (TO) are checked if there are fewer occurrences of a protected property than 63 per biogeographical region. · For 48 LRT and 86 FFH Annex II and IV species, Rhineland-Palatinate (RLP) meets the federal requirements for FFH monitoring. Since 2020, RLP has increased the SPF set by the federal government for some protected assets in the state in order to be able to make statements at the state level about the above-mentioned protected assets. With the help of a priority concept specially developed for RLP, the protected goods in RLP were evaluated. If a protected property within the meaning of the concept is classified as a priority in Rhineland-Palatinate, the number of samples is increased to 63 in line with the federal requirements. With fewer occurrences than 63, the protected material is collected in a total census (i.e. all occurrences fall within the FFH monitoring). The FFH monitoring of the wildcat differs from this: No sample areas are used nationwide, but contiguous study areas. The area to be examined under these specifications is the Northern Palatinate Forest.
