The subject of the call for tenders is an art on construction competition as a restricted ideas competition with an open expression of interest upstream. · As part of the "Neubau Campus Handwerk" construction project, the Halle Chamber of Crafts is building a new centre for training and further education for craft trades in the region. The future campus is located in Straße der Handwerker 2, 06132 Halle (Saale) in the Halle-Osendorf district. The new building comprises 19 workshops in which intercompany training courses as well as master preparation courses are carried out. The building complex will have a total area of about 8,000 square meters for training purposes. A total of 238 workshop places and 148 teaching places are available in the eight halls. … Handicraft Campus serve employees, trainees and boarding school residents as lounges, breaks and recreation rooms. For the future recreation areas in the open-air areas, in particular in front of the main entrance and in the courtyard, a competition "Kunst am Bau" (not open ideas competition with an open expression of interest phase) will be launched. The task of this competition is to develop an overall artistic concept that enriches the quality of stay and makes an independent contribution to the identity and atmosphere of the ensemble. We are looking for a contemporary art-on-construction work that combines the themes of ART - HANDWERK - WERKZEUG - MATERIAL - AUFHALT - BEGEGNUNG into an independent, location-based and permanently effective total work of art and makes familiar things re-experienceable. Thus, trades, tool shapes, movement sequences, materials and production techniques are to be translated into a contemporary formal language through the work. The artistic work can be carried out in different media. Within the scope of the task, there is in particular the opportunity to create a connection between contemporary and applied art, to include seating and living elements as well as those or to completely redesign them. Particularly welcome is the cooperation with qualified craft enterprises, a combination of contemporary and traditional craft techniques or the combination of different materials and technologies. Durability, accessibility, safe use, appropriate maintenance and resistance to vandalism shall be taken into account. Interventions must ensure the necessary functions, be coordinated with technical planning, in particular garden and landscape architecture. The artistic freedom includes all components of the designated processing area: Open spaces, paths and leisure facilities. The planned realization budget amounts to a maximum of 210,000 euros gross including all ancillary costs, statutory taxes and any applicable fees. The expression of interest will not be remunerated. The invited participants in the restricted competition receive a processing fee of 2,500 euros gross incl. statutory value added tax. The completion of the Campus Handwerk is planned for March 2028.
