What the buyer is looking for
The assignment concerns the supply of medals and decorations for the benefit of the Buyer. Maintaining or strengthening the international legal order, peace and security is something that the Netherlands is particularly committed to militarily, among other things. Those who are committed to this deserve special appreciation and recognition, this can be done, among other things, by awarding an award. The awards are the tangible recognition and appreciation of the government at the Ministry of Defence and are, for that reason alone, an important tool of personnel care. Its importance is increasingly recognised with the passing of the years. We must not forget that the soldiers sent out today are the veterans of tomorrow. In addition, awards often have a very personal meaning for the recipient: the commitment valued by an award and the circumstances in which it took place are often such…

… that there can only be a symbolic form of recognition. An award can then express this very appropriately and tangiblely. Especially in commemorations and reunions, awards play an important role because veterans also recognize each other by the buttonhole decorations or wearing pins. One sees in general who is even more veteran or one recognizes by the color of the strap or by a certain pin the companions who have participated in the same operations. Finally, in military society there has traditionally been a stimulating effect of visibly wearing a distinction. It is a good military tradition to also show that people have made an honourable effort for Prince and Fatherland (formerly) or on behalf of the Dutch government to restore or promote the international legal order (nowadays). One shows, as it were, the good example that deserves to be followed. Most decorations such as badges, medals, ribbons, bows, miniatures and other handouts are made of a worked metal with or without colored ribbon. A decoration can be fixed to the garment as well as removable, for example by means of a pin closure, screw pin or pin closure. The following medals and decorations and associated buckles and batons fall within the scope of the call for tenders (see Annex 3 for the PVEs section).
