What the buyer is looking for
The North Karelia well-being area is looking for a 3T MRI device for the Joensuu Central Hospital, Imaging Centre/radiology. Our hospital is located in Joensuu and serves the entire North Karelia region. Our imaging unit currently uses two Siemens Sola 1.5T MRI devices to comprehensively describe all patient groups from baby to elderly patients. Our operations also cover demanding patient groups, including those described in anaesthesia and implant patients. We describe a wide range of anatomical areas, but at the moment we do not carry out MRI-guided measures or research activities. In addition, we use three Siemens CT scanners and Siemens SPECT and PET systems for clip-on imaging equipment at the Imaging Centre. Our radiologists and other specialists specialising in imaging use Siemens' syngo.via workstation solution in their consultancy work, which is widely utilized in all clipping…

… imaging modes, especially TT and MRI imaging, as well as in SPECT and PET studies, where applicable. The new 3T MRI device to be purchased will be our hospital's first and only 3T level system. In the early stages, the device will be used especially for neuro-, musculo-skeletal (MSK) imaging, breast imaging and prostate imaging. In addition, the device is intended to perform cardiac imaging, including targeted studies to diagnose ischaemic changes, assess coronary anatomy, and image myocardial perfusion at rest and under stress. Our goal in the future is to expand the use of 3T surveys comprehensively, which is why the versatile equipment and extensibility of the device are very important to us. Given the location of our hospital, we value the importance of reliable, quickly available and experienced maintenance. In addition, training plays a key role, as several carers are involved in filming activities. We require that the user training is available in Finnish. The Finnish-language service of maintenance is also considered significant in order to avoid misunderstandings. The uniformity and usability of the MRI system's user interface play a key role in the operation, training and technical maintenance of our unit. In our unit, human resources are limited and there are several users involved in photography activities, which is why the implementation and training of the new system must be as smooth and efficient as possible. The simultaneous use of several different user interfaces significantly increases the need for training, complicates the workflow and increases the risk of errors. In addition, detaching staff from clinical patient work to training is challenging, highlighting the importance of a clear, intuitive and as consistent as possible interface. Correspondingly, a unified operating environment also facilitates IT maintenance, updates and support services and improves the overall reliability of the system. For this reason, we consider it important that the solution offered supports the smoothest possible deployment, efficient training and manageable maintenance, taking into account the resources of the unit. Environmental responsibility is a key value in our operations. We require that the MRI system offered is manufactured responsibly and its environmental impact is minimised. We also accept factory-refurbished equipment if it meets the required technical and functional criteria. The procurement will be carried out within the budget allocated to the procurement. The contracting entity reserves the right to suspend the procurement procedure if the prices of the admissible tenders exceed the budget available for the procurement and the procurement cannot be carried out with the available funding.
