Oost Gelre is voor het bomenonderhoud opgedeeld in drie gebieden (rayons). Elk jaar voert de te contracteren aannemer boomveiligheidscontroles uit in één van de deelgebieden. Daarnaast wordt een deel van de bomen (verspreid door de gehele gemeente) jaarlijks geïnspecteerd. De gemeente Winterswijk is eigenaar en beheerder van ongeveer 53.000 bomen. Winterswijk is voor het bomenonderhoud opgedeeld in drie gebieden (rayons). Elk jaar voert de te contracteren aannemer boomveiligheidscontroles uit in één van de deelgebieden.
