La commune d'Arâches-la-Frasse est l'autorité organisatrice du service public des remontées mécaniques des domaines skiables des Carroz et de Flaine, tous deux intégrés au domaine relié du Grand Massif. Le domaine des Carroz est exploité par la SEM SOREMAC dans le cadre d'une délégation de service public arrivant à échéance le 30 septembre 2029. Le domaine de Flaine fait l'objet d'un contrat distinct, exploité par GMDS, dont l'échéance intervient en avril 2029. La proximité de ces échéances conduit la commune à engager une réflexion globale sur le futur mode de gestion, le périmètre contractuel, l'équilibre économique, la gouvernance et les conditions de reprise ou de transfert des biens, contrats, droits, obligations et personnels nécessaires à l'exploitation. La commune envisage différentes orientations : la gestion par une société publique locale ou la conclusion, après mise en concurrence, d'une délégation de service public (unifiée ou non)
