What the buyer is looking for
The object of the procurement is the shelf systems and related services of the National Board of Antiquities (the "Procurement Unit"), the Collection Centre in Vantaa, the National Museum of Finland and other sites. Shelf systems are needed for the preservation of the contracting entity's own collections and the collections of its partners. During 2016-2025, versatile shelving systems were acquired for the Collection and Conservation Centre ("Koke") in Vantaa. These shelving systems are partly being updated and the Procurement Unit also needs to acquire new shelving systems to complement or replace some of the old shelving systems. In connection with the renovation and extension of the National Museum of Finland, some new shelving systems will be acquired. In addition to the above, the Contracting Entity is prepared, if necessary, to renew or supplement its shelving systems in other…

… locations. Primarily, however, the need for shelving systems is directed to the Experiment. The package to be acquired includes the design, implementation and installation of shelf systems. The components of the package may be put out to tender within the DPS, either jointly or separately. To the extent that the Contracting Entity orders services relating to the design of new shelving systems from a tenderer admitted to the dynamic purchasing system of its choice, the tenderer shall implement the plans in such a way that the plan does not contain exclusive elements or other constraints, which would prevent other operators admitted to the dynamic purchasing system from offering, if they so wish, the shelving system in accordance with the plan. Tenderers are always given the opportunity to consult the premises before submitting a tender in the context of intra-DPS competitions. Offers for shelving systems are always delivered, installation equipment removed and a 5-year warranty must be given for shelving systems. Tenders must specify the lift and equipment costs that may be involved in the installation work. Suppliers have the possibility to use forklifts and hoists that may exist at the site, provided that they are free from other uses. In principle, shelving systems are implemented in environment-controlled spaces, where the conditions in different spaces vary from -25 to +20C and in terms of humidity from 25 to 55%. The shelving systems are mainly metal framed, but can include wood, plastic and fabric parts, e.g. for shelf materials or fastening systems. If necessary, the tenderer must also check with the user which materials and surface treatments are used in the structures. The materials must be such that they do not cause harm to museum objects and, for example, the materials do not evaporate gases harmful to museum objects. Shelf systems are designed and dimensioned according to the objects to be stored. The size of the artefacts varies from knob-sized objects to more than 15m3 sized racing toys and boats. Collections include, for example: - Maritime Museum Collections: from boats, engines and technical equipment - Archaeological collections: from ceramics to swords - Art collections: Oil paintings, graphics and sculptures - Cultural history collections: from horse carts to rugs - Picture collections: negatives and prints - Archive materials
