Deze opdracht heeft betrekking op de ontwikkeling, levering en installatie van een onderzoeksgericht windgeneratiesysteem voor het Coastal & Ocean Basin Oostende Het Coastal & Ocean Basin (COB) is gevestigd in het Maritiem Onderzoekscentrum van de Vlaamse Overheid in Oostende (UGent Ostend Science Park). Het is ontworpen om het effect van golven en stromingen op kustwaterbouwkundige constructies en offshore/drijvende installaties te bestuderen, zoals het nieuwe energie-eiland in de Noordzee of op de natuur gebaseerde oplossingen voor erosiebescherming rond de fundering van offshore windturbines. Ook het hydrodynamische en constructieve gedrag van nieuwe technologieën voor hernieuwbare energieopwekking op zee wordt hier onderzocht (b.v. golfenergieconvertoren, drijvende zonnepanelen op zee, drijvende windturbines). Het Coastal & Ocean Basin verwelkomt gebruikers uit de industrie, de academische wereld en overheidsinstellingen.
