What the buyer is looking for

The topography of the Attica region is extremely complex. The mountains, the basin and the coastal coastline dominate, with a complex urban-semi-urban environment with special characteristics, both in terms of meteorology and in terms of the quality of the environment in general. Residents of the Region of Attica are often exposed to airborne particles, including pollen (or other bio-particles) and generally to a degraded lighting quality and noise levels. The result of all this is the daily deterioration of their quality of life. The variability of these environmental conditions has a direct impact on the mental and physical health of residents. The good health of citizens is based on proper information and the citizen who knows best the quality of the environment in which he operates and the potential risks to which he may be exposed, is also the one who can have the best possible…

… health protection and the highest possible efficiency in his work. The specific environmental characteristics of the Region include all kinds of particulate matter with different urban, peri-urban and marine origins, even from transnational transport, as is the case with the transport of dust from the Sahara Desert. Airborne pollutants include allergenic bioparticles such as bacteria, viruses and fungi, but also a plethora of substances foreign to the atmosphere that can have significant effects on the health of residents. The action aims to create a high-level infrastructure that will perform daily a 3-dimensional tomography and imaging of the mixture of particulate matter, along with measurements of radiation, light pollution, sound pollution and other parameters related to the quality of life and health of the inhabitants of the Region of Attica. This tomography includes the installation of high-tech systems for the remote measurement of particulate matter, bioparticles (derived from pollen, desert dust or biomass combustion from heating hotspots-forest fires), gaseous pollutants, ultraviolet solar radiation, sound pollution and night light conditions throughout the Region of Attica. It also includes the use of on-site measurements of pollutants and meteorological parameters as well as the use of atmospheric models (physical and chemical) and dispersion models to predict not only meteorological conditions but also environmental quality throughout the Region of Attica.
