The city of Warendorf intends to develop the district of the industrial wasteland Brinkhaus in Warendorf. The former factory site of Brinkhaus is owned by the city and has a continuous area of 4.2 ha. It borders in the south on the former course of the river Ems, in the west on the road Between the Emsbrücken, in the north on the Breuelweg running parallel to the Emsseeufer and in the east on the private property Breuelweg 6 on which a multi-family and a single-family house are located. The issue of contaminated sites has also already been comprehensively reviewed in 2023 and 2024 by means of a corresponding contaminated site remediation report and the results have been coordinated with Lower Soil Protection. Details will be announced in Phase 2 of the procedure. The urban development of the Brinkhaus district is to be co-financed, after deduction of the sales revenue, inter alia through subsidies from urban development support. For this purpose, an integrated urban development concept is currently being developed, which is to be submitted for STEP 2027 in October 2026.
