Update of Forest Biotope Inventory in Preparation for Forest Management Plan Renewal in Public Forest according to the Forest Biotope Mapping Procedure Baden-Württemberg (WBK)

… of the WBK update, new biotope areas will be identified as well as existing ones confirmed, modified or deleted. In addition, an assessment of the impairment of biotope areas and a protection goal-oriented planning of measures are carried out. Within the FFH sites, a survey of assessment parameters in biotopes corresponding to habitat types is also carried out. In addition, conservation measures for defined species are located within the Habitats Areas in a clear-cut manner. Outside the FFH sites, FFH habitat types are also addressed and the conservation status is assessed in accordance with the FVA. The contract includes the project-by-project update of the database of forest biotope mapping Baden-Württemberg in and outside FFH areas. As the update takes place in the run-up to forest facility renewal, most of the work is time-bound and must be completed within a often very tight timeframe. This requires the contractor to carefully plan, organise and coordinate the individual work steps. The district boundaries and the demarcations of the current FFH area scenery form the external boundary of the mapping projects to be processed under this contract. The exact processing of a project is carried out in accordance with FVA mapping management. This is provided in the form of detailed project orders and potential maps. Further basis of the work is the mapping manual of the forest biotope mapping Baden-Württemberg (WBK) in the current 12th edition. If necessary, the FVA shall provide the Contractor with further documents for the fulfilment of the order. The description of the map area of the WBK within these project areas can be found in the WBK Mapping Manual (Part A, Chapter 2.2) annexed to this call for tenders. The FVA mapping management reserves the right to adapt the mapping process on a project-by-project basis, e.g. with regard to the type and extent of the processing intensity of morphological structures occurring in large numbers in a similar form such as rocks in the southern black forest or water bodies or the elevation of parameters of the conservation status of specific biotope types, e.g. bog forests. Since the last update of the WBK in the project areas took place at least ten years ago, the services contracted include extensive terrain activities, including the preparatory work required for this, as well as the digital processing of the material and spatial data obtained as a result of the terrain mapping. The update will be carried out in close contact with the FVA, Dept. of Forest Conservation, and the local forestry authorities, in particular the competent district managers.
