According to SURF and its members, the future of ICT and related services for education and research lies largely in the cloud. The members (institutions) therefore want to be able to use the cloud flexibly and combine it with their own ICT infrastructures (hybrid infrastructure). Transitioning to the cloud is not an easy step in practice, and for many institutions there is little experience with it. Unexpected challenges may therefore arise during the implementation of cloud projects as well as in the subsequent management phase. The initially intended benefits will then not be achieved, as a result of which there may be a risk of damage or destruction of capital. … Services is explicitly linked to the SURFcumulus service. Specifically, it concerns executive, common services intended for cloud implementation, migration and management. Delivery is made on the basis of a fixed price and a fixed delivery date. A detailed description of the service elements is as follows: Setting up a cloud landing zone, integrated into an institution's existing (hybrid) architecture, comprising at least: Account setup: based on the administrative organization, compliance guidelines, existing environments and structures of the institution. Network configuration: according to guidelines, within cloud environments and between on-premise and these cloud environments. Security baseline: identity and access management based on SURFconext, availability of standardised, hardened machine images, security policies, network monitoring and log analytics. Automation: standardised design of security, governance, and cost optimisation. Performing/supporting cloud migrations, through: Lift-and-shift migration scenario: moving (partially) an ICT infrastructure from a data center to the cloud without major changes. Re-design migration scenario: making (part of) an existing ICT infrastructure and/or implementing replacement, new solutions to be built so that the potential of the cloud can be used optimally. Providing cloud-managed services in the (hybrid) cloud infrastructure, including e.g.: Operations (account management, software update management, license management, network management, backup & restore, monitoring, platform management) Application management (technical application management, functional application management, data management, application configuration management) Service support (incident, problem & change management, multi vendor coordination, second and third line support, escalation handling) Service delivery (service level management, capacity, cost and continuity management) Information security and privacy protection (detection, prevention, reporting, adjustment).
