Der Neubau umfasst Laborflächen der Sicherheitsstufen S1 und S2, Praktikumsräume, Büros, Hörsäle, Seminarräume sowie eine Cafeteria mit Essensausgabe für rund 2.000 Studierende. Die Nutzungsfläche beträgt ca. 7.100 m2 und die BGF ca. 16.000 m2. Das Gebäude wird ganzjährig genutzt und bietet Platz für bis zu 400 Studierende und 130 Mitarbeitende gleichzeitig. Die Planung sieht flexible und fakultätsübergreifende Nutzung der Flächen und Geräte vor, um Synergieeffekte zu erzielen. Die technische Gebäudeausrüstung wird gemäß den Anforderungsprofilen der Universität umgesetzt. Ab Leistungsphase 5 übernimmt ein Generalunternehmer die Ausführungsplanung und Bauleistungen. Im Zuge dessen wird das Baucontrolling der technischen Gebäudeausrüstung (KG400) eingerichtet, um die Umsetzung der technischen Anforderungen und Standards der Universität Bonn zu begleiten und zu überwachen. Das Baucontrolling unterstützt die Qualitätssicherung, prüft technische Lösungen und Alternativen und bewertet deren Auswirkungen auf Kosten, Termine und Qualitäten. Darüber hinaus wirkt das Baucontrolling im Entscheidungsprozess mit und begleitet die Projektbesprechungen im Rahmen der Bauausführung.
